The Home-Start Approach
We believe that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents and carers play the key role in giving their children a good starting life and helping them to achieve their potential.
We provide a unique service; recruiting and training volunteers who themselves have parenting experience, to work with families in their own homes, building supportive relationship and responding directly to the family’s individual needs.
A network of Home-Start schemes throughout the UK offer support within local areas, to help children to get the best start in life. Each scheme is independently funded, managed locally and has the support of our national organisation Home-Start UK. Home-Start Horizons has a proven, lasting, positive impact on the development of children and the health and welfare of the family.
The work that we do would not be possible without the commitment and kind generosity of our volunteers who offer their time, help, support and friendship to vulnerable families in Leicester, Charnwood, Melton and Rutland, Blaby District Oadby and Wigston every week.
